Personal Care Menu of Services - Helpful Tips to always include for your Salon, Spa or Barber!

Creating a Menu of Services for your Personal Care Business (Spa, Salon or Barber) is not always an easy task. Here are some helpful tips to include so your guest understands what to expect at their service. Quite often Menu of Services forget to mention things that could be a potential customer experience issue. Being thoughtful and clear about talking about these things ensures a wonderful service for all guests!

Beside having a lovely beauty image(s), a great format, list of services offered with prices and duration of service, locations(s), hours of operation etc; also think about the following:

1. Include a section affiliated with "what to expect". I would definitely lead with this so the messaging is up front and sets the mood for what your personal care services is all about. Think about any arrival times prior to services, concerns that need to be extended to staff prior to your service (especially for massage services). A guest may have health conditions, allergies and/or may be pregnant; that may affect how the therapist conducts their service. If guests in a barber or salon environment have expectations for what they would like to achieve (for color, cut, shave); be sure to let the guest know that staff wants to hear from them and exceed your expectations.

2 Add a Booking and Cancellation Policy - guest want to understand if there is a fee associated with cancelling or rescheduling. If there are deposits associated with the service; that is also something to mention. This should not only be on the Menu of Services but also on your website. Some booking & scheduling POS platforms allow staff to send these messages via text or email a couple days prior to the guest appointment.

3. Cell Phone Policy - Especially in a Spa environment; the guest is looking to unplug and relax so be sure to send a friendly reminder about what the etiquette is so ALL guest can enjoy their treatments.

4. Valuables - Be sure to mention if lockers are available for the guest. This alerts them as to leave jewelry or other valuables at home. Be sure to mention that you are not responsible for any lost items and to error on the side of keeping valuables at home prior to the service.

5. Age Requirements - Spas will want this clear (especially for safety concerns). Word this in a respectful way. Due to safety considerations and limited space our spa treatments and facilities are available to guests 12 years of age and older. This wording also conveys (in a respectful way) that guests should plan for any child care needs prior to their service. Salons and/or Barbers may differ for these requirements.

6. Your Satisfaction - After your visit, we invite you to share the experiences you most enjoyed and the people who most impressed you on our Comment Card. Some Booking & Scheduling POS platforms allow for a follow up text or email about their guest experience. This is also great for posting on social media!

In summary; have clarity for the guest so that their service rewards repeat business!
